What is a handoff?

Most failures in an otherwise good process happen here rather than inside either step. A clean handoff carries everything the receiver needs, so nobody asks the customer to repeat themselves and nobody starts from a blank page. A bad one delivers a notification with a name and no context, which means the receiving person redoes work already done. Where handoffs happen, and what travels with them, is worth designing explicitly.
