What is an LLM?

A large language model is a system trained on an enormous amount of text that predicts what should come next. In practice it is very good at reading, writing, summarising, classifying and following instructions, and it knows nothing specific about your business unless you give it that information. Almost every complaint about AI output being generic traces back to that second point rather than to the model itself.
